5 Minnesota Brothers Critically Injured in Explosion
Bagley, MN (KROC-AM News) - A GoFundMe website has been created for five Minnesota brothers who were critically injured in an explosion on Monday.
The Clearwater County Sheriff's Office is reporting that the explosion occurred around 12:30 PM at a storage unit near the town of Bagley. A news release says Sheriff's deputies and other emergency responders arrived at the scene and found one adult male and five children, ranging in age from 6 to 14 years old, suffering from burns.
The Sheriff's Office says a preliminary investigation found that a propane tank had been leaking inside a metal storage unit and when the doors were open, the adult male lit a cigarette and ignited the fumes.
The GoFundMe site established by the older sister of the injured boys indicates they were all airlifted to the Hennepin County Medical Center for treatment and are currently listed in stable conditions.
Reports indicate the man who ignited the explosion by lighting the cigarette is the boys' father. Information about his medical condition is not available.
As of late Tuesday afternoon, more than $30,000 had been donated to the GoFundMe site, which lists a goal of $50,000 to help the family deal with medical bills and other expenses associated with caring for the injured children.
