Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Rochester Police Department is investigating the theft of an adaptive bike owned by the city’s Park and Recreation Department. The theft occurred sometime this week at the department’s Silver Lake Station, which previously housed a Rochester Fire Department station.

Police Lieutenant Mike Sadauskis says there were no signs of forced entry and speculates the entrance to the building might have been inadvertently left unlocked. The stolen item is a red Tri-Rad, which is a 3 wheeled bike that is specially designed to be used by individuals with disabilities. It’s used by the Rochester Park and Recreation Department for programs involving people with special needs.

The Park and Recreation Department is hoping whoever took it will return it. Anyone with information about the whereabouts of the specialized recreation equipment is asked to contact the Rochester Police Department at 507-328-6800.
