Update: Three Killed in Two Seperate Southern Minnesota Crashes Wednesday
Undated (KROC-AM News)- The State Patrol responded to at least two fatal crashes in southern Minnesota on Wednesday.
The first fatality happened Wednesday morning in Watonwan County. The second deadly crash occurred in Redwood County Wednesday night.
The Watonwan County fatal was reported shortly before 8:30 a.m. at the intersection of Hwy. 30 and County Rd. 5, which is about 30 miles southwest of New UIm. The state crash report indicates a Freightliner Tractor traveling east on Hwy. 30 and a Kenworth Semi southbound on County Rd. 5 collided at the intersection.
The Freightline driver, identified as 31-year-old Dylan Robert Maas of Sleepy Eye, was pronounced dead at the scene. The operator of the Kenworth, 32-year-old Cody James Crowley of Golden Valley, MN, was taken to a Twin Cities hospital with what are being described as life-threatening injuries.
It’s unknown if either truck driver was buckled at the time of the crash.
The second deadly crash in southern Minnesota happened about 12 hours later. Emergency responders were called to the intersection of Hwy. 14 and Balsa Ave., which is about 20 miles southeast of Marshall.
A minivan, driven by a 55-year-old Maiyang Moua from Tracy, MN, was traveling south on Balsa Ave. and an SUV, operated by a 48-year-old Victor V Lee of Walnut Grove MN, heading east on Hwy. 14 collided at the intersection of the two roads.
Moua and her passenger, 67-year-old Saibert Moua of Tracy, were pronounced dead at the scene. Lee suffered life-threatening injuries and his passenger, 40-year-old Kia Xiong of Walnut Grove, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. They both taken to nearby hospitals for further care.
