As if the tornado warning wasn’t enough to keep law enforcement busy today (Monday), the  Olmsted County Sheriff's Office today alerted Rochester to a Buffalo on the loose!

“ATTENTION: There is a buffalo loose in the area of 40th Street SW and Bamber Valley Road near Rochester.

If you see the buffalo, please do not approach the animal and call local law enforcement at 507-328-6800.

Thank you.”

There’s not much to be said except look out for the buffalo and don’t mess with it.

Why is there a buffalo loose in SW Rochester? I have no idea. But I do know how to spot one… thanks to the Minnesota DNR...

General description: A mature bull may stand five to six feet high at the shoulder, measure nearly ten feet in length, and weigh more than 2,000 pounds. Cows are smaller, weighing about 1,200 pounds.

Color: Bison are dark brown, but their heads and shoulders are almost black. Thick, shaggy hair covers their shoulders, neck, forelegs, and massive head. Curving outward and upward from the head are sharp horns. Both males and females grow horns.

Oddly enough, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources mentioned nothing about wings.
