Doorbell Cam Videos Requested in Rochester Shooting Investigation

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Rochester Police Department is hoping the growing popularity of doorbell cameras and other video security systems can assist in the investigation of a shooting earlier this week in southeast Rochester.

A notice went out today to registered owners of some of the devices requesting video from home and business owners with cameras that might have captured recordings of a vehicle that was seen speeding away from the area where the shooting took place late Wednesday afternoon in the parking lot of the Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant along 12th Street. The police department notice indicated the "vehicle of interest" is described as a blue Ford Fusion. Witnesses reported the car went north on 7th Avenue following the shooting and police say it then likely traveling east on 6th Street and made its way to South Village Drive Southeast, where it was located.

It is suspected the car was carrying the person who fired several shots into a vehicle in the KFC parking lot. Two teenagers, both 16-year-old boys, were wounded. One was shot in the leg while the other suffered a graze wound from a bullet. At last report, there had not been any arrests in the case.
