WOODBURY, Minn. (AP) — A man is dead after a fire in his Woodbury home.

A spokesman for the Woodbury Public Safety Department says flames were shooting out of the house when firefighters arrived about 6:20 a.m. Tuesday.

Neighbor Joshua Anderson tells the Star Tribune he ran to the burning house and tried to kick in the side door, "but it just wasn't budging."

Anderson says he was able to kick in the front door, but an "overwhelming plume of smoke" kept him from entering.

Authorities have not said what might have caused the fire.
