Fentanyl Overdose Suspected Cause of Rochester Man's Death

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- The Rochester Police Department suspects a fentanyl overdose claimed the life of a Rochester man Wednesday morning.

Police Captain Casey Moilanen said officers were dispatched to the Rochester Community Warming Center in the 200 block of 4th St. Southeast around 7:45 a.m. Staff at the shelter reported being unable to wake a man about 15 minutes before calling police.

Emergency responders arrived and tried to revive the 43-year-old man but were unsuccessful. Moilanen said officers found drug paraphernalia and what appeared to be crushed up M30 pills that are often laced with fentanyl on the man.

Investigators have ordered an autopsy and toxicology report to confirm the man’s cause of death. His name is not being released.
