Guilty Plea in Byron Standoff Case
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man has been sentenced to a year in jail for his conviction on a gross misdemeanor stalking charge. 36-year-old Andrew Neseth admitted to the charge this week when he entered into a plea agreement that resulted in the dismissal of three burglary charges connected to a standoff with Olmsted County deputies in Byron last September.
The crime report on the incident alleged Neseth broke into the home of an ex-girlfriend and threatened her with a knife. The victim managed to escape and run to a neighbor’s house where she called for help around 4 in the morning on September 24th. A local Emergency Response Unit was brought to the site, and after Neseth resisted requests that he surrender, the ERU unit stormed the residence in the 1000 block of 8th Avenue northwest in Byron about 4 hours later and took the man into custody.
