Heavy Snow and Bitterly Cold Temperatures on The Way
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - According to the calendar, we’re heading into the final few days of autumn but we are being told to expect a very wintry-like weekend in southeast Minnesota.
A snowstorm and bitterly cold weather are expected and forecasters are more confident of heavy snow for the region.
The storm will move into the area Friday and the heaviest snow is expected to fall Friday night. By the time the snow ends Saturday, totals could be in the 6 - 9 inch range, maybe higher.
Perhaps a bigger concern for those with travel plans is the bitterly cold weather that will move in behind the storm.
Temperatures will begin falling Saturday, plunging into the minus teens and 20’s by sunrise Sunday.
Here’s some good news - a gradual warmup is expected next week with temperatures possibly climbing into the mid and upper 20’s by Wednesday - the first day of winter.
The warmer weather could continue into the Christmas weekend.
