Other vehicles on the road pulled over for the deputy as he pursued the motorcycle. The pursuit, which the court document says spanned 2.6 miles, ended south of the Hwy. 52/Marion Rd. overpass.

The deputy withdrew his firearm and ordered the motorcyclist off the motorcycle, the complaint says. Three other deputies then responded to the scene and apprehended the motorcyclist, who was later identified as 44-year-old Travis Lee Hughes.

Hughes was released without bail following his first court appearance Monday and is due back in court next month.
