Southbound Hwy. 52 Lane Closure Starts Monday North of Zumbrota

A roughly 8-mile stretch of southbound Hwy. 52 will be down to a single lane between Goodhue County Roads 9 and 7 north of Zumbrota.

The lane closure is to accommodate installation of high-tension median cable barriers.

MnDOT says barriers involved three to four steel cables being strung onto posts.

The cables flex and absorb much of the kinetic energy when a vehicle hits them and help to redirect the vehicle along the median, which MnDOT says prevents fatal and severe cross-median crashes.

The installation is scheduled to be completed sometime next month, according to MnDOT.
