Pets Rescued from Early-Morning Rochester House Fire

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- The Rochester Fire Department fought a kitchen fire early Monday morning.

A news release issued by the fire department says crews were dispatched to the report of a kitchen fully engulfed in a home fire shortly before 1:30 a.m. Five engines responded to the scene. 

The fire broke out at a house in the 100 block of 14th Ave. Northeast. Arriving firefighters found smoke coming out of the home’s exterior and first floor, the news release says. 

The home’s residents got out of the house, however three cats and a dog were still inside of the burning structure, officials say.

One crew entered the home to extinguish the blaze and additional crews searched for any other occupants. Firefighters rescued all of the four pets, the fire department says. 

No injuries were reported. The news release does not say how many people were inside of the home. 

Officials say the house’s first floor suffered moderate to heavy smoke and water damage. The cause of the fire is not yet available. 

The Rochester Police Department, Mayo Clinic Ambulance, Rochester Public Utilities and the American Red Cross also responded to the fire.
