Freeborn County Jail Escapee Captured by ICE (UPDATED)
Albert Lea, MN (KROC-AM News) - The man who apparently took advantage of an unlocked door at the Freeborn County Jail and walked away from the detention center on Monday was captured today following a high-speed chase in the Twin Cities.
The Freeborn County Sheriff's Office says officers for Immigration Customs Enforcement spotted Victor Nava-Urioste in St. Paul driving a car that was reported stolen in Albert Lea yesterday. The federal agents attempted to pull him over but instead, he sped away. Officials say the pursuit ended after Nava-Urioste turned onto a dead-end street and then attempted to flee on foot.
He was being held in the Freeborn County jail on a detention order from ICE.

The Freeborn County Sheriff's Office says a man being held for the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency walked out of jail yesterday and is still at large.
Officials say Victor Nava-Urioste is not considered dangerous and apparently was able to exit the Freeborn County Detention Center through a door that is normally locked but was not latched. He was reported missing around 5:30 Monday afternoon and a video recording showed him walking away from the jail around noon.
The Sheriff's Office says Albert Lea police suspect he was the person who stole a 2003 silver Toyota Camry around 2 PM. The license plate number of the vehicle is 978 TJJ.
Anyone with information about the man's location is asked to call the Freeborn County Sheriff's Office at 507-377-5200.
