Rochester Police Department Communications Coordinator Amanda Grayson says first responders were dispatched to the crash shortly before 11:30 a.m.
Preliminary information indicates four vehicles were involved. The crash occurred at the intersection of South Broadway and Hwy. 14/12th St.
Grayson says two of the drivers had to be extricated from their vehicles. They were then transported to St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment of what are being described as non-life-threatening injuries.
Their names have not been released. No other injuries were reported.
Grayson says the preliminary investigation indicates one of the drivers involved suffered a medical episode and crashed into the rear of a vehicle stopped at the traffic light. That collision caused two other vehicles, also stopped at the light, to be struck.
Traffic records indicate the intersection sees an average of 50,000 daily. It's scheduled to be rebuilt in 2027.
