Threat Reports Leads to Increased Police Presence at Kasson-Mantorville High School
Kasson, MN (KROC-AM News)- The report of a threat has led to an increased police presence at a southeast Minnesota high school on Wednesday.

A letter sent to parents and guardians says the incident was brought to the attention of the school’s administration and the School Resource Officer after the school day on Tuesday.
Police then began an immediate investigation, according to the letter.
Investigation Deems Potential Threat Made at Kasson-Mantorville High School Not Credible
Kasson-Mantorville High School Principal Trent Langemo wrote the investigation conducted by the Kasson Police Department did not uncover anything that would indicate an intention to act upon the threat.
Despite the threat not being deemed credible, the law enforcement presence at Kasson-Mantorville High School was increased on Wednesday, Langemo wrote.
Langemo also said in part, “too often, we as school staff find ourselves distracted from the business of teaching and learning because of inappropriate comments made in person, by rumors, or through the use of technology.”

The reported threat at Kasson-Mantorville came on the same day as the discovery of what law enforcement termed a “suspicious substance” in a student’s locker at Byron High School.
The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office says the substance was removed after a consultation with the Bloomington Bomb Squad and other officials.
Explosive detection K9s also swept the building. The incident in Byron remains under investigation.
