Rochester Man Sent to Prison for Large Fentanyl Pill Bust During Traffic Stop

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- A traffic stop that led to the discovery of hundreds of fentanyl pills last fall has sent a Rochester man to prison.

Rochester Police stopped a vehicle driven by a man the officer knew to have a canceled license in the area of 3rd Ave. and 16th St. Southeast on October 3, 2023. 

The officer spotted a white powder on the floor of the vehicle and initiated a vehicle search after being shown an open pack of marijuana, according to the police report detailing the arrest.

The vehicle search led to the discovery of hundreds of fentanyl pills. 

Rochester Man Sent to Prison After Being Busted With More Than 600 Fentanyl Pills

The man driving the vehicle was identified as  Lydelle Antwane Mack. He was 41 and homeless in Rochester at the time of the traffic stop. 

The criminal complaint says officers found 665 M-30 pills that are typically laced with fentanyl. Mack also had $5,600 in cash on him at the time of his arrest.

Mack was charged in October with one count of first-degree drug sales and a count of first-degree drug possession. 

Last Week Mack and prosecutors struck a plea deal in which he admitted to an amended second-degree drug possession charge in exchange for the dismissal of the two first-degree drug counts. 

An Olmsted County Judge then sentenced Mack to 95 months in Prison. Mack was given credit for 197 days already spent behind bars. 

He’s serving his prison term at the state correctional facility in St. Cloud.
