Madeline Kingsbury’s Killer Receives the Maximum Sentence
Winona, MN (KROC-AM News) - After hearing numerous emotional statements from family members, a Winona County judge today imposed the maximum sentence on the man convicted of killing Madeline Kingsbury.
The 27-year-old Winona woman's siblings and parents shared their grief and concerns about the well-being of Maddi's two children during this afternoon's sentencing hearing. All of them urged the judge to make sure 30-year-old Adam Fravel would remain locked up for the remainder of his life.
The Winona man was earlier found guilty of first and second-degree murder charges. He was charged last year after the young woman's remains were discovered hidden in a culvert along a remote road near his parent's home in Fillmore County several months after her disappearance.
Madeline was last seen alive on the morning of March 31, 2023 when she and Fravel dropped their children off at daycare. She was scheduled to report for her job in Rochester at the Mayo Clinic but never showed up. Her disappearance prompted weeks of extensive search efforts by law enforcement and hundreds of volunteers that attracted worldwide media attention.
Just before the judge in the case handed down his sentence, Fravel made a brief statement and proclaimed his innocence. His attorney also indicated he plans to appeal his conviction.
Fravel was then ordered to prison for the rest of his life with no chance of parole.
