Police Report Movie Prop Money Circulating in the Rochester Area
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Rochester police today issued a warning about the circulation of fake $100 bills in the Rochester area community.
Police Department Communications Coordinator Amanda Grayson says the bills resemble real currency but are also clearly labeled "prop movie money." The fake bills also state in large print, "for motion picture purposes."
Grayson says officers have recovered stacks of the bogus bills that, if real, would be worth approximately $45,000.
Her statement also notes that real money will have a watermark that is visible from either side and held up to light and the ink in the bottom right corner will change from copper to green.
Anyone who comes into contact with counterfeit money is asked to contact Rochester police or their local law enforcement agency.
