Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A West Concord man who was charged with aggravated robbery for an incident at a local liquor store this past summer pleaded guilty Tuesday to a 5th degree assault charge.

The felony charge was dismissed and 24-year-old Darren Brewster was placed on probation for 2 years and fined nearly $600.

Brewster and another man were accused of assaulting an employee at the Buckeye Liquor store July 25th. The employee told officers one of the men dropped a bottle of liquor he had just bought in the store’s parking lot and came back inside, demanding a free replacement.

The employee refused and grabbed a baseball bat behind the counter to protect himself. He says the men took it away and assaulted him. They then grabbed some liquor and fled.

Police later located Brewster and the other man, who was never charged.
