When the officers arrived at the scene, they reported finding a bullet had struck one of the apartment buildings and entered the shower area in the bathroom. Two spent shell casings from a 9 mm firearm were also found at the scene.

According to court documents, Winona police reviewed security video recordings and saw 21-year-old Jayden Michael Jessie, whom they knew from prior contacts, and another man engaging in a fight. The video shows Jesse walking away following the physical altercation.

According to the criminal complaint filed against 26-year-old Derrell Lamont Walker, he is seen in the video pulling an object from his waistband and handing it to Jessie. The video then shows Jessie turning around and getting into a shooting stance before raising his right arm and firing what appears to be a gun in the direction of the man he had been fighting.

The court document says the video shows what appears to be a bullet striking the dirt near where the other man was standing just before he ran away and entered an apartment unit. The video also shows a large group of people scattering and running from the scene as the apparent gunshots were being fired.

Under the terms of his plea agreement, Walker has entered a guilty plea to the felony charge of furnishing a dangerous weapon in exchange for the dismissal of the other charges. He is scheduled to be sentenced in May.
