
Plane Crashes Near Rochester Airport, Bystander Finds Pilot
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- Local and federal authorities are investigating a plane crash that occurred near the Rochester airport Sunday night.

So far limited information is available. A news release issued by the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office says a witness saw the aircraft crash around 10:15 p.m.
Deputies found the crashed plane on a private property shortly after responding to the scene.

Pilot Taken to Hospital After Plane Crash Near Rochester, MN Airport
The news release says the plane crashes at Oak Summit Golf Course in the 2700 block of Olmsted County Rd. 16 Southwest. The golf course lies on the northern edge of the Rochester International Airport.
Authorities say the witness found the pilot and gave the plane operator a ride to a nearby area where medical personnel could evaluate the pilot.
The pilot was the sole occupant of the plane. Officials say the pilot, who was walking without assistance, was transported to a hospital for evaluation.
The extent of the pilot’s injuries are not known as of Monday morning. Information regarding the pilot’s identity has not been released.
Authorities describe the plane as a smaller single-engine aircraft. The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office says they have contacted the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board to assist with the plane crash investigation.
Members of the Stewartville Fire Department and Rochester Fire Department also responded to the scene of the plane crash. No other information is available as of Monday morning.
