Minneapolis, MN (MinnesotaNow)- Police in Minneapolis are investigating a shooting that claimed the life of a teenage boy.

A news release issued by the Minneapolis Police Department also says a 44-year-old man was wounded.
Officers responded to reports of multiple gunshots around 5:30 Thursday afternoon.

“This is another heartbreaking act of violence that has left a young person dead, another individual wounded, and families suffering unimaginable pain,” said Minneapolis Police Chief O’Hara.

The deadly shooting occurred in the 1300 block of 18th Ave N, near Minneapolis North High School.
Responding officers encountered a 16-year-old boy outside suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds.
He died at the scene despite life-saving measures, police say.
Wounded Man Found at Gas Station
The wounded man drove himself to a gas station near Broadway Ave and Knox Ave N. Officers met him there and rendered aid before the man was brought to a hospital.
The names of the victims have not been released. No arrest has been announced as of Friday morning.
“Our investigators are working urgently to determine exactly what happened and to identify every person responsible for this violence,” O’Hara said.
