MNsure Director Says The System Off To Successful Start

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota's health insurance exchange is up and running and enrolling people in coverage on the first day of open enrollment.

MNsure's executive director, Scott Leitz, told reporters the system got off to a successful start Saturday morning without any major issues that they're aware of.

Around 140 people had enrolled in coverage and the call center had received over 1,000 calls by around midday, with waits averaging around a minute.

It came as a marked contrast to last year's delayed launch, which was marked by serious technical glitches and long waits for help.

But MNsure spent several months and millions of dollars overhauling and extensively testing the system to get it ready for this fall.

Leitz says he's pleased — and relieved — that the relaunch went well.
