1 dead, 1 wounded in St. Paul shooting; suspect arrested

St. Paul, MN (AP) -- St. Paul police say a woman is dead, a man wounded and a suspect under arrest after an early morning shooting at a downtown apartment building.

Someone called 911 just after 3:30 a.m. Saturday to report shots fired inside a residence.

Officers arrived to find a suspect on the third floor of the building. Police also found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and a woman who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The wounded man was taken to Regions Hospital in St. Paul, where he is being treated. The name of the woman has not been released.

Police say the suspect was taken into custody without incident and was being interviewed.

Homicide detectives are trying to determine what led to the shooting.

Man dies after being shot in north Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minneapolis police say a man is dead after a shooting on the city's north side.

Officers found the man critically injured from a gunshot early Saturday. He was taken to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale and pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The name of the victim was not immediately released.

Officers continue to investigate. Police are stepping up patrols in the area.
