A recent story came out naming the most laid-back small towns in the entire state of Minnesota. I took a peek, and two of them are in Southeast Minnesota! One of them is not surprising to me whatsoever. The other one makes sense, but I didn't see it coming.

The original story comes from World Atlas, and they say that some of the best experiences in Minnesota "are tucked into smaller, slower-paced towns that don’t always make the headlines."

They're cute little towns with a lot of history, great shops, and cool places to discover.

The Most Laid-Back Towns in Southeast Minnesota

Making it onto the list of the most laid-back towns in Minnesota, and the one that didn't surprise me, is Lanesboro!

Lanesboro always gets on lists like these. They're also something like the prettiest small town, best town for bed and breakfasts, and stuff like that.

World Atlas writes this about Lanesboro:

The town is built for a restful getaway, with inviting inns and a walkable downtown full of galleries, shops, and cozy cafés.

The other SE Minnesota town that is one of the most laid-back towns in the state is Red Wing!

This one took me by surprise because they're a bit bigger than other towns that made the list, but I get it. How can you not be relaxed when you're right on the Mississippi River?

World Atlas writes:

Red Wing pairs natural beauty with a proud tradition of making things well. ... Community events... bring people together ... [and] outdoor time is easy to come by".
