New Details Emerge for Big Spring Snow Storm Targeting Minnesota

Update: Forecast Change: New Snow Totals Predicted for Minnesota Spring Storm

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- Tuesday is the first day of Spring but Minnesota could look like it's frozen in Winter by the end of the week.

That’s according to the latest forecast issued on Tuesday morning by the National Weather Service. Meteorologists are now predicting measurable snow to fall in Minnesota.

The exact locations of the heaviest snow accumulation are still uncertain, however meteorologist confidence is growing that a large spring storm system could dump snow on a large swath that stretches from the Fargo-Moorhead Area into far southeastern Wisconsin.

The storm could make travel late in the week difficult, meteorologists say. No winter weather warnings or advisories have been issued as of Tuesday morning.

Spring Storm to Bring Measurable Snow to Minnesota

The latest National Weather Service forecast predicts the measurable snow will blanket western, central and southern Minnesota Thursday night into Friday.

As of Tuesday morning there is a 68% chance Rochester sees four plus inches of snow Thursday night into Friday. Austin and Preston have a 66% chance of picking up at least four inches of snow in that same time span.

There’s a 62% of four or more inches of snow in Winona and a 57% chance of snow accumulations of at least four inches of Spring snow in Faribault and Wabasha Thursday night.

Tuesday morning’s forecast predicts 3-7 inches of snow in Rochester Thursday night. The forecast for the Twin Cities area calls for 3-5 inches of snow on Thursday.
