No Injuries Reported After Crash, Truck Fire in Rochester
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A traffic mess in Rochester Monday was apparently the result of a driver who may have suffered a medical issue.
Police Capt. Casey Moilanen says a 25-year-old Rochester man who had been driving on 11th St SW around 3:30 pm suddenly became unresponsive. A passenger in the pickup truck shook the driver and when he came to, the man accelerated.
The truck left the road, hit a power pole, and then drove onto Highway 52 where it collided with the rear of a flatbed towtruck before crashing into the median.
Moilanen says the pickup caught fire but the driver and passenger were able to get out safely. You can see video recorded by a witness below:
Only minor injuries were reported.
The accident affected traffic for a few hours.
