Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Most Minnesotans have enjoyed a mid-February thaw this weekend as a mass of warm air continued to pour into the state Saturday morning.

The southerly breezes resulted high temperature readings on Friday that were very Spring-like across large sections of south-central and southwestern Minnesota. The warm spot was Windom, where the National Weather Service received an unofficial report that the mercury reached 61-degrees. 30 miles to the north, at Redwood Falls, the official high temperature was 58-degrees, and the far western Minnesota communities of Benson and Madison enjoyed high readings of 57 and 55 degrees.

Areas of south-central Minnesota also experienced 50 degree plus weather. St. James reported an afternoon high of 55-degrees and the mercury reached 52-degrees in New Ulm.

The snowpack limited the warm-up in southeastern Minnesota, where the warmest readings were in the low to mid 40s. The official high temperature at the Rochester Airport was 38-degrees at just before midnight, but the mercury briefly climbed into the low 40s just before 1am and there was an unofficial report of 45-degrees in northwest Rochester early Saturday.
