Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A California man has worked out a plea deal with Olmsted County prosecutors just days before he was scheduled to stand trial on charges stemming from a significant drug bust in Rochester.

41-year-old Gregory Duwayne Johnson was ordered to pay a $1000 fine and was placed on probation for 5 years after he entered an Alford plea today to a 3rd-degree drug charge. The plea means Johnson does not admit guilt but acknowledges there is sufficient evidence for a conviction.

He and another California man, 26-year-old Travis Johnson-Curl, were arrested and charged in April 2017 after a routine traffic stop by a Rochester Police Officer near Mayo High School led to the seizure of 46 pounds of marijuana and $1500 in cash. Johnson-Curl entered a guilty plea to a felony drug charge several months after his arrest and was sentenced to 20 years on probation and 3-months in jail.
