Update 4:50 p.m. 11/4/23: Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- The Rochester Fire Department says four people were taken to a hospital following a Carbon Monoxide leak at a Rochester hotel.
A news release says the first crews to arrive observed a partial evacuation taking place. Firefighters assisted with connecting the evacuees with Mayo Clinic Ambulance crews that also responded.
The Carbon Monoxide leak occurred at the LaQuinta Inn and Suites at 4353 Canal Place SE. The news release says the leak was coming from the pool area where crews reported detecting high levels of Carbon Monoxide.
The four people transported to a hospital from the scene were suffering from what is being described as “symptoms related to acute carbon monoxide poisoning.” Their names and ages have not been released.
Emergency responders ventilated the dangerous gas from the area. Gas Utility crews also responded to the hotel to secure the building and prevent a future leak.
Minnesota Energy Resources was also called in to investigate the origin of the leak. The Rochester Fire Department says the incident serves a reminder of the importance of having a proper Carbon Monoxide detection system.
