Charges: Standoff Followed Rochester Police Response to Assault
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man has been charged in connection with a brief standoff with law enforcement that occurred in a southeast Rochester neighborhood Tuesday afternoon.
Multiple Felony Charges Filed
Olmsted County court records show that 29-year-old Nathan Michael Noser was arraigned this morning on felony counts of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon, domestic assault by strangulation, and terroristic threats. He also faces a gross misdemeanor domestic assault charge stemming from the incident.
Rochester Police Respond to Domestic Assault Report
According to the criminal complaint, Rochester police were called to a residence around 3:40 p.m. in response to a report of a domestic assault. The responding officer spoke with a woman who alleged that she had been assaulted by her live-in boyfriend, whom she identified as Nathan Noser.
Victim Describes Alleged Strangulation
The court document says the woman told police he had been drinking since the morning and that, while she was lying on a bed, Noser got on top of her, placed his hands around her neck, and choked her while stating that he wanted to kill her. The victim indicated she was having difficulty breathing and was afraid she was going to pass out.
Gun Threat Alleged During Incident
The criminal complaint alleges that Noser threatened to kill himself and her parents while holding a small handgun and pointing it at her. The victim also stated that Noser told her he would shoot her if she tried to leave.

The officer noted the victim had fresh scratches on each side of her jaw and red markings on the right side of her face and nose.
Suspect Remained Inside Home for More Than an Hour
According to the charges, additional officers were requested at the residence because Noser was refusing to leave. The criminal complaint says an officer made contact with Noser by phone, and he indicated he was going to exit the home, but he did not emerge from the house until more than an hour later.
Defendant Denies Allegations
The court document says Noser denied physically assaulting the victim and denied threatening her with a gun, although he admitted owning a 9 mm handgun. The criminal complaint also includes a statement from a witness who saw Noser holding a gun to his head and threatening suicide before she left the residence.
A search warrant was later executed at the home, and Rochester police reported finding multiple rounds of ammunition and a pistol case but did not recover a firearm.
Noser's conditional bail was set at $50,000.
