Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- A Rochester man has been charged in connection with a burglary and theft at an Olmsted County treatment center.

A criminal complaint, filed in Olmsted County Court this week, says the alleged break-in occurred on the morning of February 3. 

The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office was able to identify the suspect through video review.

51-year-old Son Sami is charged with third-degree burglary and first-degree property damage.

The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report of an active burglary at the center and were told someone had unlawfully entered the facility and took copper, tools and damaged a handrail. 

The missing copper was valued at $230 and the tools were estimated to be worth $317 dollars. The damaged handrail is worth $1,400, the complaint says. 

Investigators tied Sami to the theft by cross referencing footage captured at the facility with footage from a body-worn camera that was recorded two days after the alleged break-in and theft, according to the court document.

The complaint does not say which treatment center was victimized. Sami is being charged via summons. He’s due to make his first court appearance next Spring.
