Rochester Man’s Murder Re-Trial Getting Underway
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Jury selection is expected to get underway today for a Rochester man's second murder trial.
33-year-old Muhidin Abukar is charged with a single count of second-degree murder for his alleged involvement in the death of 28-year-old Garad Roble. The Rochester man was found shot to death "execution-style" on a rural SE. Rochester Road in the early morning of March 5, 2019.
Abukar was brought to trial on the same charge last December. A mistrial was declared after the jury that heard the evidence against him deliberated for about 18 hours and could not reach a unanimous verdict.
Since then, another Rochester man was convicted of being involved in the murder. 25-year-old Ayub Iman was found guilty of a second-degree murder charge by an Olmsted County jury that deliberated for only about four hours before returning the guilty verdict at the end of the trial in April. He is scheduled to be sentenced on June 2.
