Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- The Rochester Police Department says the person or persons suspected of shooting and killing a man Thursday evening are not yet in custody.

Information released regarding the fatal shooting remains limited. Communications Coordinator Amanda Grayson says officers were dispatched to the report of a shooting around 6:50 Thursday evening near downtown Rochester

Responding officers found the gunshot victim in the area of 1st Ave. and 10th St. Southeast. Despite life-saving measures, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Rochester, MN Police Department Announces Search for Homicide Suspect/Suspects

The victim’s name has not been released. Police issued a news release Friday morning that says officers are searching for the suspect or suspects connected to the homicide

Police previously said the deadly shooting did not appear to be a random act of violence. The news release does not include any physical descriptions. 

Officers did arrest an adult male at the scene of the fatal shooting on an active arrest warrant that was not related to Thursday evening’s homicide, the news release says.

Grayson says the investigation remains open and active and that no additional information is available as of Friday morning.
