Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- A downward trend in the price for a gallon of gas in Rochester and across the nation is continuing.

AAA Minnesota indicates the average price for a gallon of unleaded in the Rochester metropolitan area has dropped below $4 per gallon on Monday. 

The price for a gallon of regular unleaded had averaged more than $4 in Rochester since late April.

Average Price for Gallon of Unleaded Drops Below $4 in Rochester, MN

 As of Monday the average price for a gallon of unleaded in the Rochester area is $3.99. It was $4.06 one week ago.

The upward price trend in the Rochester area did not reach the record of $4.79 per gallon that was set in June of 2022.

Rochester and Duluth were the last two metropolitan areas in Minnesota tracked by AAA to see the average price per gallon of unleaded fall below $4 per gallon. 

Minnesota Average Under $4 Per Gallon

Minnesota’s average price for a gallon of unleaded has been under $4 for over a week. It reached $4.41 per gallon a month ago. 

The average statewide price of a gallon of unleaded is $3.86 as of Monday. 

AAA credited the drop in prices for a third straight week of price drops to crude oil prices remaining below $100 per barrel last week. 

On Sunday, President Trump announced a peace deal with Iran that will reportedly involve the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. 

Prices Higher Than June of 2025

Despite the downward trends motorists are still paying significantly higher prices compared to this time a year ago.

The average price per gallon in Rochester was $3.04 in June of 2025. Minnesota had a statewide average price of $2.94.
