City of Rochester, MN Asks Residents to Follow Seasonal Parking Rules Ahead of Predicted Snow Storm
Ahead of the predicted major snowfall, the City of Rochester on Tuesday sent out a news release asking residents and visitors who park on the city’s streets to abide by seasonal parking rules.
The request comes one week after the city announced a suspension of the rules due to a lack of snow and mild weather at the time.
Residents are asked to begin following the parking rules on Tuesday afternoon to allow plows adequate space to properly clear the city’s streets.
Our priority is ensuring safe and accessible roadways, especially during winter weather. Clear streets allow emergency responders and garbage services to reach those in need without delay. While we won’t be actively enforcing Seasonal Parking Requirements, we’re counting on the cooperation of residents and visitors to help keep our streets clear of snow accumulation.
-Tyler Niemeyer, Public Works Director for the City of Rochester
The news release includes a refresher on the city’s seasonal parking requirements:
Alternate side parking requirements are in place city-wide from November 1 to April 1 from 2 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Park vehicles on the side of the street with EVEN house numbers when the calendar date is EVEN.
Park vehicles on the side of the street with ODD house numbers when the calendar date is ODD.
While cars can be parked on both sides of the street in the evening hours, drivers should park their vehicles overnight for the requirements that are in place the following day from 2 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Posted parking signs must be followed regardless of the calendar date.
This does not apply to metered spaces; however, parked vehicles must still comply with posted signs.
Alternate side parking is not applicable on streets where parking is only allowed on one side.
