Police responded to the threats call at the Olmsted County Elections Office at 2122 Campus Drive Southeast around 11:15 a.m.
Officers learned a man accompanying someone who was at the elections office to vote had made threats about shooting people, the police report says.
Police identified the man as 46-year-old Timothy Kearney. Grayson said the officers who found Kearny near the elections office suspected him of being intoxicated.
Kearny was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital for an evaluation due to intoxication before being booked into the Olmsted County Jail, police say.
Kearny is expected to face a felony charge for threats of violence, Grayson said.
