Rochester Sees Slight Drop In Unemployment
The Rochester area enjoyed a slight drop in unemployment last month.
The latest numbers from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development show the jobless rate for Olmsted County fell a tenth of a point from April to 3.7-percent. That’s down two-tenths of a point from last May and is the lowest rate for Olmsted County since last December.
For a change, it was not the lowest unemployment rate in the region. That honor went to Dodge County last month, which saw its jobless rate fall over a full point to 3.6-percent. That’s the lowest rate reported in Dodge County in almost 7 years.
Nearly every county in southeastern Minnesota reported lower unemployment rates in May. Winona County was the exception. Its’ jobless rate was up a tenth of a point at 3.9-percent.
