Rochester Woman Sentenced For Threatening Neighbor With Knife
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester woman has avoided a prison sentence following a conviction connected to a knife assault on a neighbor earlier this year.
According to the criminal complaint, 45-year-old Maria Del Rocio Pezic was arrested in late March after Rochester police responded to a report of an assault at a northeast Rochester residence. Officers spoke with a woman who stated that her neighbor had attacked her with a knife.
The court document says the victim told police that Pezic confronted her about an earlier call to authorities, brandished a knife, and chased her. The victim also stated that Pezic held a knife to her throat and threatened to kill her.
The charges against Pezic included a witness statement from a person who reported seeing her chase and threaten the victim.

Following her arrest, the criminal complaint indicates Pezic told police she had threatened the neighbor with a knife in self-defense and claimed the victim had previously assaulted her.

Pezic was charged with second-degree assault and felony terroristic threats.
She later entered into a plea agreement and admitted to the terroristic threats charge in exchange for the dismissal of the felony assault charge.
Pezic was sentenced today to five years of probation and 111 days in jail, but she was given credit for the 111 days already served.
