Rochester’s SocialICE 2024: Everything You Need to Know

I know it's been a pretty mild winter so far but the days have still been short and we're all looking for something fun to do. Good news: Rochester, Minnesota's annual SocialICE event is coming up soon!

SocialICE is an opportunity to socialize (get it?) with friends, local businesses, and fellow Rochester-ans. Here's a peek at last year's fun:

When is SocialICE? Where is it?

SocialICE is held at the Peace Plaza and this year's festivities are taking place on Friday, February 23rd 4-10 PM and Saturday, February 24th 1-10 PM.

SocialICE Fam Jam

On Saturday the 24th from 1 until 4 PM is what's called Fam Jam. This is the family-friendly portion of the event and there are all sorts of cool activities for the kids.

Some of this year's Fam Jam activities are:

Meet sled dogs from Winona State University, Rochester.

Mini golf

Winter-themed art activity

Live DJ

Curling

S'mores to roast around the campfire

SocialICE 2024

On Friday and Saturday night, 4-10 PM, the music turns up and the drinks come out. Local bars and restaurants will have booths all around the Peace Plaza selling themed cocktails and some vendors will be selling food.

Each year of SocialICE there's a theme and I believe this year's theme is all about seasons. The vendors have a specific part of the theme that they stick to, so their drinks and decor will all be based on their season.

There are also typically ice bars and ice sculptures but I'm not sure how that's going to be handled with how crazy warm it's been this winter.
