
Train Engine Hauling Ethanol Catches Fire in Winona County
Minnesota City, MN (KROC-AM News)- Emergency crews in Winona County extinguished a fire on a train engine that was hauling ethanol Sunday afternoon.

Winona County Emergency Management said the Winona County Dispatch Center received a report from Canadian Pacific Railroad regarding a locomotive fire shortly after 2 p.m. First responders met the train in Minnesota City.
The first crews to arrive at the scene reported a small fire in the compartment of the engine and determined the flames were not a danger to the public as the small fire had not spread to the ethanol cars. Firefighters put out the blaze with portable fire extinguishers, the news release says.
6th St. in Minnesota City was closed while firefighters put out the fire. The scene was cleared about 90 minutes after the fire call.
No injuries were reported. Goodview Fire and Rescue, Minnesota City Fire, Rollingstone Fire, Goodview Police Department, Winona Police Department, Winona County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota State Patrol and Canadian Pacific Police responded to the train fire.
