Alleged Killer of Minneapolis Good Samaritan Charged

Minneapolis, MN (KROC-AM News) - A murder charge has been filed against the man accused of gunning down a good Samaritan in Minneapolis Police.

The Hennepin County Attorney's Office says 36-year-old Robert Hall is scheduled to be arraigned this afternoon on a second-degree murder charge along with felony counts of attempted robbery and being a felon in possession of a firearm. He was arrested last Friday after Minneapolis Police officers responded to a traffic crash that led to a fatal shooting and attempted armed carjacking.

Minneapolis police reported that Hall caused the crash when he drove through a red light and was fleeing on foot when three witnesses tried to detain him. He resisted and shot a 21-year-old man in the chest, resulting in a fatal injury.

Hall then ran into the parking lot of a nearby Cub Foods Store, where he allegedly tried to carjack a vehicle but was tackled to the ground by a group of bystanders, including members of an anti-violence citizen's group. The criminal complaint says he had a gun in his possession, and another gun was found in his vehicle.

Court records indicate Hall was on probation for several previous felony drug convictions.
