Back To The Drawing Board For Byron Schools

Byron, MN (KROC AM News) - By a nearly 2-1 margin, voters in the Byron School District have rejected a $58-million school bond issue.

The unofficial tally from Tuesday’s voting was 1344 against and 725 in support.

The district was seeking approval to move ahead with plans calling for an auditorium at the high school, a re-do of the kitchens and cafeterias at the middle and intermediate schools, and adding athletic facilities at the high school. A portion of the funds would also be used to renovate the Administrative Services Center.

According to the superintendent’s message on the district’s Facebook site:

“ The results are in and the Byron Public Schools Referendum did not pass. We will continue to engage families, students, staff, and community members into our process to determine the best solution and next steps for our District.”
