Breezy Point, MN (KROC-AM News) - Authorities in north-central Minnesota say the three people found dead inside a cabin at a Brainerd-Lakes area resort were the victims of a double murder-suicide.

A news release issued by the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office identified the victims as 54-year-old Melanie Jansen of Maple Grove, 29-year-old Hannah Parmenter(Jansen) of Elk River, and 56-year-old Michael Toner of Maple Grove. The statement says autopsies conducted by the Ramsey County Medical Examiners Office determined the two women were victims of homicide and died from multiple gunshot wounds, while Toner died of a single gunshot wound to his head and his death was ruled a suicide.

Crow Wing County officials say a Breezy Point police officer was sent to the property around 9 PM Tuesday after a family member called 911 and reported seeing two people on the floor inside the cabin and blood was visible. The person who called for assistance was identified as the daughter and sister of the two female victims.

The responding officer confirmed what the 911 caller had reported after looking through a window into the cabin before he broke a window adjacent to the front door and was able to gain entrance. Once inside, he discovered all three victims dead from apparent gunshot wounds.
