Minnesota's Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport is consistently ranked as one of the best airports in the US and I think part of the reason is all of the offerings MSP has once you get past security.

Most other airports I've been to have a whole lot of nothing going on. There are not many food options, nothing terribly exciting. But MSP has tons and tons to see and do. I mean, there's even a movie theater!

Businesses Closing at MSP Terminal 2

The businesses closing are Surdyk's Flights wine bar, Subway, and Mpls. St. Paul News & Gifts, according to a representative from Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC) who spoke with Bring Me the News.

The reason for these closings is that each of their 10-year leases is up.

NOTE (09/06/24): In a previous version of this story there had been reports that two Caribou Coffee locations were also closing. While their lease is up, they are working on renewing the lease and do not plan to close.

This leaves 4 spaces open for businesses who would like to open locations at MSP. Plus, MSP is working on a big expansion at Terminal 2 which will add two more places for businesses (plus two more gates).

What Kinds of New Businesses are Coming to MSP Terminal 2

An official request for proposals has been released, according to a press release from MAC. They're looking for local and national businesses to occupy the spaces so there's a variety of options for fliers.

The kinds of businesses that MSP is hoping for include "a local full-service restaurant, two national quick-service restaurants (burgers and fresh salads/sandwiches), one bar, ... and one news and convenience store."

Also, that expansion project I mentioned is expected to be complete by early 2027.
