The changed hours will begin on the first Thursday of 2025.
A news release issued by the City of Rochester says the changes will allow for a more efficient allocation of resources and will continue to serve the needs of the community.
Reduced In-Person Service Hours for City Services Start Jan. 2 in Rochester, MN
Starting on Jan. 2, 2025, hours for in-person services at Rochester City Hall, Rochester Public Utilities (RPU) and Development Services and Infrastructure Center (DSIC) will be from 8 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Closing time for RPU and DSIC is currently 5 p.m., according to the city’s website.
“We observed that in-person community service demand significantly decreases after 4:30 p.m. As part of our ongoing efforts to improve the experience for residents, businesses and City teammates, we have determined that adjusting our operating hours will better align with current service needs,” said Deputy City Administrator Aaron Parrish.
City officials say the new hours match in-person service hours with Olmsted County government services, the State of Minnesota and some existing City offices.
RPU and 311 will continue to offer phone support until 5:00 p.m., the news release says.
