Christmas Day Traffic Stop Leads to Major Rochester Drug Bust

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- A traffic stop on Christmas Day led to a significant drug bust in Rochester.

That’s according to a criminal complaint filed in Olmsted County Court on Thursday.

Rochester police stopped the vehicle at an undisclosed location along North Broadway Ave. shortly before 9:30 p.m. for an equipment and moving violation, the charges say.

Upon approaching the vehicle the officer saw the driver, identified as 33-year-old Anthony Dominique Lindsey, smoking a marijuana blunt, the court document says.

Lindsey and a passenger, who the complaint says was seen attempting to conceal a baggie in her hand, were ordered out of the vehicle and Lindsey underwent field sobriety testing.

Lindsey, who the charges say failed at least one of the field sobriety tests, told police he had the passenger hold a controlled substance for him and said he had methamphetamine and cocaine.

A subsequent search of Lindsey and the vehicle led to the discovery of suspected cocaine that weighed 1.97 grams with packaging and suspected meth that weighed 83.77 grams with packaging, according to the complaint.

Court records indicate Lindsey has two prior DWI convictions and a fifth-degree drug possession conviction.

The Rochester man is charged with first and fifth degree drug possession and gross misdemeanor DWI. He was released without bail following his first court appearance on Thursday and is due back in court next month.
