Undated (MinnesotaNow)- Minnesota is going through another spike in traffic deaths as the busy 4th of July travel weekend approaches. 

At Least Six Traffic Deaths Reported on Minnesota Roads Between Friday Afternoon & Monday Morning

At least six people have lost their lives in crashes on the state’s roads since Friday afternoon. Four of the traffic deaths occurred in a span of less than 24 hours.

Fiery Fatal Crash in Eagan

The most recent of the fatalities happened shortly after midnight Monday morning in the Twin Cities. The State Patrol says an SUV exiting I-35 E in Eagan left the ramp to the right, became airborne, struck a traffic light then burst into flames.

A 28-year-old Eagan woman was driving the vehicle and a 38-year-old man from Georgia was riding with him.

The state crash report does not include their names and does not say if one or both of occupants were killed. 

Male Dies in Crash Near Duluth

Two males from Barnum, MN were involved in a single-vehicle crash between Cloquete and Duluth. 

The Carlton County Sheriff’s Office says one of the occupants was killed in the crash, which occurred around 6:30 p.m. Sunday.

The other occupant was flown to a hospital in critical condition. 

Their names have not been released. 

Deadly Head-on Crash on Hwy. 169

On Sunday afternoon, a head-on crash claimed the lives of two women in northern Minnesota.

24-year-old McKenna Joy Christensen of Luck, WI was traveling north in an SUV and 83-year-old Carole Rose Wiss of Grand Rapids, MN was southbound in an SUV when the two collided just south of Grand Rapids. 

Both women were pronounced dead at the scene, according to the state crash report

Man Dies in Rollover During Law Enforcement Pursuit

A 64-year-old Minnesota man was not wearing his seatbelt when he crashed about 30 miles northeast of Marshall Saturday evening. That State Patrol identified Francis Albert Rohlik of Redwood Falls as the driver of a pickup that rolled.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the state crash report.

The Redwood County Sheriff’s Office says the deadly crash occurred during a law enforcement pursuit. 

29-Year-Old Man Killed, Three Injured in Southwest MN Crash

On Friday afternoon, a 29-year-old man was killed and three others were injured in a collision in rural southwestern Minnesota.

The Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office says Sean Goodman of Slayton ran a stop sign as he was traveling east and entered the path of a southbound semi. 

A third vehicle was struck following the collision. Goodman was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver, the driver of the other vehicle and a 12-year-old riding in the third vehicle were all transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
