The criminal complaint, filed in Olmsted County Court on Tuesday, says the alleged violent incident occurred on September 15. Rochester police were dispatched to the stabbing call shortly after 9:30 a.m.
Upon arriving at the residence on Northern Hills Dr. Northeast, officers were shown the apartment where the reported stabbing took place. A man identified as 32-year-old Robert Daniel Laurence Derrick Robinson approached officers from the parking lot and let the officers into the unit.

Police did not find anyone inside but did see what the complaint describes as a kitchen-style knife wrapped in paper napkins.
Police then exited the unit and encountered a bleeding man, who was identified as the victim, yelling at Robinson, saying the Rochester man stabbed him, the complaint says.
Police spoke with the victim and witnesses who said the victim and his girlfriend were staying in Robinson’s roommate’s room. They allege Robinson kicked in his roommate's bedroom door and told the victim and his girlfriend to leave.
The victim said he and Robinson then got into a physical altercation when the victim said he felt “something weird” on his left side. He asked Robinson what it was and Robinson told him it was a knife, the complaint says.
The victim then fled from the apartment after being cut a second time by Robinson, the charges say. The court document does not say whether or not the victim required medical attention.
Officers spotted what the complaint describes as a larger cut running from the victim’s left armpit to the bottom of his ribs. The man also had cuts and scrapes from the back of his neck to underneath his left ear, the complaint says.
Robinson told officers the couples refused to leave the apartment after he asked them to. He said he did not know how the victim became injured.
Robinson is charged with one count of second-degree assault. His conditional bail was set at $10,000 on Tuesday and he’s due back in court next week.
