Olmsted County Sets Maximum 2025 Property Tax Levy Increase
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- The Olmsted County Board of Commissioners has set the maximum increase for next year’s property tax levy.

The elected leaders voted to move forward on the county’s budgeting process on Tuesday.
A mid-December date was also set for the commissioners to take a final vote on next year's budget.
Commissioners voted to cap the 2025 property tax levy at $137,862,741. That preliminary figure includes the county’s property tax levy of $132,690,673 and the county’s Housing Redevelopment Authority levy of $5,172,068.
The proposed tax levy represents a 5.57% increase from this year’s property tax levy.
Each year, we thoughtfully examine the county's needs to ensure we are prioritizing effectively and adjusting to local or national trends or mandates, as well. This year, we are moving forward with some vital capital projects and filling some essential positions to continue meeting these needs and ensure we are providing operational excellence.

1% of the money raised through the property tax levy will go towards the county’s Capital Improvement Plan, which involves building a Justice Center at the Government Center, constructing the Graham Park exhibition center, construction of a materials recovery facility, and continued design and construction of the interchange the intersection Highway 14 and County Rd. 44 between Rochester and Byron.
Tuesday’s vote set the maximum property tax levy increase. The elected leaders also set a Dec. 5 Truth in Taxation meeting date.
The final vote on next year’s budget has been set for Dec. 17.
